The Challenge
Altec sought to enhance their operations in three key areas. First, they aimed to replace their on-site server with a more scalable and secure solution to house their business database. Second, they wanted to modernise their website while preserving existing data, which was hindered by the outdated database structure. Finally, they needed to implement cloud storage for their business data to address security concerns and improve accessibility.
The Response
Altec first connected with Adopstar in July 2022 when they were exploring options for digital marketing support. During these early discussions, it became clear that their existing website infrastructure needed to be upgraded before they would be able to achieve their marketing goals. Recognising this, we adopted a strategic approach, tackling the data and backup challenges first. Our second step was to redesign the website and during this process, we addressed several core issues:
• Slow loading speeds were optimised to ensure faster and smoother navigation.
• Issues with cart functionality were resolved.
• The process of adding certificates of conformity to orders was streamlined.
• Security was bolstered through the implementation of client and server-side data checks.
• The checkout process was transformed into a dynamic multi-step form that reacts to data changes.
To further enhance the user experience, we added dropdown menus for product selection, which enable visitors to find and choose products quickly and easily. We also ensured that the website is fully GDPR compliant, thereby safeguarding user privacy and data protection rights.
Bearing in mind the database issues we mentioned earlier, the team collaborated with a database engineer to migrate the entire database to Azure. We also facilitated the creation of an intermediate server that uses authentication to access the database structure through a secure network. Thanks to this server, with its new storage procedures and customised data views, we were able to upgrade the outdated database structure with modern querying procedures.
The Result
Our redesign made the website faster and easier to navigate. It also ensured better accessibility, a deeper end-user understanding of the sales process and GDPR compliance. We gave the client the best of both worlds by keeping the feel of the original website while upgrading the speed, security and overall experience.
It was our ability to adapt to Altec’s evolving needs, provide them with expert technical support and offer a comprehensive digital solution that persuaded them to choose Adopstar. The holistic security, data and website solution that we provided ushered in a new era of compliance with industry best practices and current regulations.
Looking to the future, we amplified Altec’s online presence by adding a dynamic blog feature to the website. This platform is being used to consistently engage their target market and share valuable insights. We also provide ongoing support to promptly resolve any technical issues or content management challenges faced.
